The purpose of the United Methodist Women:  The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know GOD and to experience freedom as whole persons through JESUS CHRIST: to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in global ministries of the church.

The women have three circles that women of the church are invited to join and take part in.  Circles allow members an opportunity to focus on special mission interests in smaller groups. They provide greater flexibility and freedom for participation, nurture and leadership development. Some women find that their circle is their primary connection for prayer, study and spiritual growth.

  • The Elaine Tilghman Circle meets periodically on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am.
  • The Della Stewart Circle meets periodically on Tuesdays at 12:00 noon.
  • The Flora Holt Circle meets periodically on Tuesdays evenings at 7:00 pm.

Please contact the church office at (910) 897-8894 for the date of the next meeting.

United Methodist Women Service Projects

The United Methodist Women remember our college students with a box of homemade goodies to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  It is the women’s way of letting the students know that they keep them close in their hearts.  Boxes are ready just prior to February 14th.

Toiletry kits ready for SAFE of Harnett County

SAFE of Harnett County has indicated that toiletry kits are very useful for the folks they serve.  United Methodist Women initiate a collection of boxes every year that are blessed and presented to SAFE.

United Methodist Women Card Outreach is a program where cards are sent to those who are sick and have lost loved ones, letting these individuals and families know that they are kept in our prayers.

Bereavement Meals are provided for those in our congregation who have lost loved ones and those who are unwell.

Hand-in-Hand or Congregations for Children Projects are a vital part of the local United Methodist Women ministry.  School supplies are collected in the fall and delivered to Erwin Elementary School.  At Christmas, children and families in need are identified by the Social Worker of our local schools so that the United Methodist Women along with members of our Congregation can help make the holiday season a little brighter while living our faith out loud.

AGAPE Christmas Boxes are made from a list of designated items for children in Armenia.  A monetary offering is collected as the mission project during our Vacation Bible School.  Boxes are made with items purchased with the offering.  Boxes are collected throughout the month of September and then blessed and delivered to the MERCI Center in Goldsboro, NC.

United Methodist Women Fall Fundraiser is held in November every year.  The Fundraiser consists of items made by the Piece Makers and various members of the congregation, baked goods, casseroles, and a soup and sandwich plate sale.  Distribution of the proceeds is decided by the United Methodist Women the following January.

Celebration of Births in our Church Family by arranging for a bud vase to be placed on the altar as soon after the birth as possible.  The only requirement for the United Methodist Women to cover the cost of the bud vase is for a parent or grandparent to be a member of our congregation.
